Clam Chowda in Martha's Vineyard

"Martha's Vineyard, Woods Hole and a little bit of Boston."

It was a great trip to visit my college buddy who got married this past Saturday. Not only did we sample some cool local breweries but we were also able to meet a ton of small business owners on the island of Martha's Vineyard. This would be my third time on the island and I was greeted with amazing weather, great home cooking by my bud's mom, and a relaxed time along the water. One of the breweries we visited just finished their pumpkin beer and the farm literally down the road had provided the roasted pumpkin for the batch.

The night before the wedding about 50 people were invited over to the groom's parent's house. I must have had 3 full bowls of homemade New England Clam Chowder (or "chowda") and ate my heart out on all the home cooked food. I asked around the island for everyone's personal takes on "chowda" and will soon test a recipe I have concocted after some research.

What was great too was that everyone had a different idea on how to use the FireDisc on the island. Most residents are big into seafood, and are true aficionados of the trade and had some wonderful recipes and ideas to share. I will post more on this when I have time to take pictures of the testing!

A big thank you to everyone who took time out of their busy lives to either meet or see me, I hope to visit the island again soon!
