How to Clean Your FireDisc

Posted on Jan 20, 2016

Taking care to properly clean your FireDisc is easier than you may think. The FireDisc is made of carbon steel and has similar properties as cast iron, therefore we do not recommend that you clean your FireDisc with soap as it will remove the seasoning that will develop over time and several uses. Just like with cast iron, this seasoning of the grill will allow it to become a more non-stick surface and will add flavor to the dishes you cook in your FireDisc.

Once you are done cooking allow the FireDisc to cool. Take a non-abrasive sponge and running water and wash out the FireDisc. If you have any "particles" still stuck to your FireDisc after washing out with running water, dry your FireDisc and place it back on it's legs. Set your FireDisc to "High" heat and allow it to get really hot ", about 7 minutes should do. Take a large amount of ice and carefully drop it into the FireDisc. This reaction between hot and cold will pull anything stuck to your FireDisc off. Allow the ice to melt and bring the water to a boil. Turn off the heat to your FireDisc and let the water cool. Dump the water and dry your FireDisc with a towel.

That's it! Easy clean up. If you have any questions regarding your FireDisc please email me at conor@firediscgrills.com.
