Capt. Lou Gasperin

“I’ve always been the chosen cook by my team buddies, whether it’s hunting moose in Canada, fly fishing the mountain streams or on a pro fishing tour… The FIREDISC® Cooker can do it all! Easy to pack up and carry- the recipe options are endless!”

Lou Gasperin’s life has been what some would describe as the ultimate outdoor sportsman’s life. Even as a young boy he would ride his bike through his neighborhood in St. Pete, Florida, fishing rod attached, in search of his “lucky fishing spots”, often resulting in a bountiful catch. His love for sports and the outdoors was apparent throughout school having excelled in many sports. Upon graduation from Boca Ciega High School in St. Petersburg, he joined the family plumbing business, but every spare moment was filled fishing (inshore, offshore and fly) and hunting.

Winner of the Homosassa Holidays Redfish and Trout Tournament in 1977 led to his enjoying several years on retainer with Raymond James & Assoc. as their private in-shore guide for clients. Lou began competing in off-shore grouper tournaments, winning the Old Salt Tournament in 1986 along with four years of competition in the Arthur Smith Tournaments on the east coast for dolphin and kingfish and has documented 47 fishing expeditions to the Bahamas between 1985-1995. Lou also has many hunts under his belt with an affinity for bear, moose and javelina and has spent time as an outdoor guide. To say it straight, Lou is an extremely accomplished outdoorsmen and one of the most knowledgeable in the Industry.

Currently Lou works full time for FIREDISC® leading the Hardware Team in the Southeast Region. He has built strong and lasting relationships with over 200 FIREDISC® retail stores across the country including Ace Hardware, True Value, United Hardware, Blossman’s Gas, Crawford Outdoor and many more. He brings many talents to the FIREDISC® Team including his extensive knowledge of outdoor cooking. You will often find him on the road attending tradeshows and meeting with retailers to train them on the cooking properties of the FIREDISC® and sharing his outdoor recipes. If you’ve had a chance to see him in action, you likely left with a full belly and a FIREDISC® or two.
