I’m Jason Davis, the guy behind Plate It Up, and my love for food runs deep. As a kid, I’d sit wide-eyed watching my grandmother turn everyday ingredients into something downright magical. Her kitchen was where it all began—her hands moving like a maestro, and me, the eager apprentice, begging to stir the pot. That’s when it hit me: food isn’t just fuel—it’s a story, a bond, a craft worth perfecting.
I cut my teeth in the culinary world the hard way, starting with a gig running plates at a small-town diner. From there, I clawed my way up, soaking up every trick of the trade in steamy kitchens until I was calling the shots as Executive Chef at some of the swankiest restaurants and high-end country clubs around. Through every sweaty shift and late-night prep, one thing never changed—my obsession with crafting meals that stop people in their tracks. There’s nothing better than watching someone take that first bite, ease back in their seat, and just soak it in. That’s my kind of victory.
My cooking’s a little bit of southern soul with a lot of modern swagger—comfort food classics meet fire and smoke in all the right ways. In 2023, I decided to take that passion to the social media stage with Plate It Up, and holy smokes, the response knocked me off my feet. Sharing what I do—connecting with folks beyond the stove—has been a wild ride. Hearing that my dishes and tips light a spark for others? That’s the real deal, and I’m nowhere near done.
