(MAKES 18) A savory southern deep fried batter that is sure to make your mouth water and is the perfect pairing to any seafood dish, and goes well with anything else on your menu.
  • 1 1/4 c self rising cornmeal
  • 1/2 c of flour
  • 1/4 c white onion, chopped
  • 2 jalapeños, diced
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 8 oz creamed corn
  • 1 qt frying oil
  • Set your FIREDISC® to high heat and with a frying thermometer heat the oil to 350 F
  • Mix all ingredients minus the oil in a large mixing bowl and allow to rest for a few minutes.
  • Using a teaspoon, drop batter into the oil and cook until browned, about 3 minutes.
  • Remove hush puppies with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel lined plate.
  • Sprinkle with salt and enjoy!
