MINT JULEP FOR FIREDISC® NATION

Save a slot on Derby Day for these traditional refreshers. They go well with any Triple Crown Race, or baseball player chasing a Triple Crown, too.
INGREDIENTS:
  • 8 mint leaves
  • ¼ ounce simple syrup
  • 2 ounces bourbon
  • Garnish: mint sprig
  • Garnish: Angostura bitters (optional)
PREPARATION:
  • In a Julep cup or rocks glass, lightly muddle the mint leaves in simple syrup. Add bourbon. Pack glass tightly with crushed ice. Stir until the cup is frosted on the outside.
  • Top with more crushed ice to form an ice dome. Garnish with a mint sprig and a few drops of bitters (optional). Note: Slap mint sprig on the back of your hand first. This releases the oils and makes them more aromatic.
