It’s a rational thought that this recipe is so good it’d be a shame to save it for Cinco de Mayo only. We’re thinking the fifth of every month is a good start.
INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 ½ pounds flank steak
  • ⅓ cup olive oil
  • 3 limes, juiced
  • ½ cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder
  • salt and pepper, to taste
PREPARATION:
  • Whisk all marinade ingredients in a small bowl. Add steak to a glass or non-reactive baking tray. Pour marinade on.
  • Ensure both sides of the steak are well coated. Cover the baking tray with plastic wrap. Marinate for 1-4 hours. (You can also marinate in a zip-close bag.)
  • Heat FIREDISC® cooker on medium-high heat. Cook carne asada for 5-7 minutes on each side. Remove steak to a cutting board. Let rest for 5 minutes.
  • Using a sharp knife, slice carne asada at an angle against the grain. Further chop the carne asada into smaller pieces, if desired.
